Ah yes, another way to create content within in Instagram is here. Instagram released Reels earlier this summer, some people (me, I’m some people) say to rival the booming success of TikTok. Reels is short-form digital 15-30 second video content that you can create, edit and decorate within the app.
I know what you’re thinking, “A new way to use social media? But just a couple of months ago, you permitted us not to do all the things?” And that permission is still granted because Reels is a new feature inside an existing platform that you’re already using, or at least you should be. And look at it this way, you can leverage your existing audience on Instagram to create TikTok-like content, then all is well in the world. No need to go to TikTok and create yet ANOTHER audience. The majority of TikTok’s audience is there to be entertained, not to be informed or educated per se. For business owners, Reels offers the same opportunity on a platform where folks are used to engaging with brands and companies. All you have to do is expand your Instagram marketing strategy to incorporate Reels, while they’re hot. Instagram, algorithmically, is giving a ton of traffic and weight to those creators who are leveraging this new content creation feature. Be that early adopter!!!
Now, with all this talk about using Reels, you didn’t think I’d leave you high and dry without discussing the type of videos you can use to your advantage, did you? Of course not! Content queen here to the rescue! Let’s take a look at the Instagram Reels that would be beneficial to you as a business owner:
1. Informational Reel
Answer the questions you know are at the forefront of your audience’s mind about your industry related to standard terms, key factors, topics, or items. You could create an entire week of Reels by discussing one topic a day.
2. Instructional Reel
Who doesn’t love a good “How to” or “How do I?” Reels is perfect for this kind of instructional content because it quickly helps your audience make decisions related to your business or organization.
3. Trends Reel
Show your prospective clients that you’re in the know on all things trending. Find creative ways to incorporate the hottest new music, dances, or subject matter into your brand or simply share your take on them. See also: if you’re not a dancer or it’s not how you want to show up on Instagram, don’t. Again, do you and what feels natural to who you are and aligns with the brand you’re wanting to build.
4. Behind-The-Scenes Reel
Take your audience behind the curtain of your business. Show them something quick, simple, and fun about your daily process. You can even do something as simple as giving them a tip that works for you in terms of morning routines, how you take breaks while working from home. Anything that makes them feel like they get a better sense of how you operate.
5. For Real for Reel
This could be a quick, cool way to introduce yourself, what you do, who you serve, and where you are in business. Just make sure whatever you’re saying is quick, captivating, just enough to make those who are watching want to know more about you. You can even include a call to action, requesting that those who see your video leave a comment telling a little bit about themselves.
As you can see, Instagram Reels can be a quick, fun way to share your business online. We love Reels over here, and we love helping our clients develop exciting new ways to incorporate it into their business. And guess what? There’s always room for more, so let’s talk about how we can incorporate Reels into your marketing strategy!
