Raise your hand if you have ample time and desire to create different content for different platforms and run your business? If you raised your hand, you might want to stop reading right here because you’re a national treasure, and you don’t need this; however, if you’re like most small business owners or solopreneurs looking to maximize your time and effort then keep reading. I’ve got something for you!

Have you ever thought about repurposing your content? If not, you definitely should. First, let’s talk about what it means. To repurpose your content means to take an existing piece of content you’ve already created for your brand and use it for another purpose. This sounds simple, right? That’s because it is, and it has so many advantages.

In addition to saving you time and stress of having to come up with endless content ideas, repurposed content allows you to reach a broader audience. Most people think that to appeal to more customers, they have to come up with different ideas to get in front of them, but this isn’t the case. Keep in mind that people learn differently. While some people are visual learners and prefer to consume their information via video, others prefer to gain more knowledge by reading. Again, something so simple, yet made oh so complicated by our busy minds.

There’s also the fact that you may have content you created years ago that those who are new to your brand may not even be aware exist. Not to mention, we consume so much information regularly that we barely remember what we read last week! Repurposing your content is a great way to revitalize content you’ve created in the past, and a great way to remind your existing audience of what you’ve told them before. You may feel like you sound like a broken record, but it takes over 7-12 touches for your prospect to take action — just remember that!

If this sounds like something you could benefit from (believe me, it is), let’s go over just three of the ways you can repurpose content and make it work for you!

Turn your blog posts into LinkedIn articles

If you already have a blog for your business, take some of the content you’ve created and turn it into LinkedIn articles. It can be content you created last week or last year because here’s the impressive part: you’re putting your content in front of a different audience, all while still reaching your same demographic. Did I just see your shoulders drop?

Make a blog post from Facebook Live videos

If you’re already in the habit of going live on Facebook, guess what? You can use those same live videos as a post for your blog! Better yet, have that live video transcribed and shined up to make a written blog post which will be great for SEO purposes. Don’t take for granted that the same people who watch your videos read your blog and vice versa. Think about how you consume content? Maybe there are people whose content you consume religiously on Facebook, but you never look at their blog. Or, perhaps there are people you discovered from their website, and you never knew they had a Facebook page!

Get more traction with your email newsletters

Here’s a way to gain more subscribers to your email newsletter: repurpose your newsletter content on social media — pick a platform! There’s a high chance that the people you’re connected with on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter aren’t aware that you even have a newsletter. What better way to make them aware than to reach them through their preferred medium with a teaser of content from your newsletter to draw them in! Don’t forget that enticing call to action, leading them back to your newsletter to subscribe. That’s the most important part!

These three ideas are only the tip of the repurposing content iceberg! Always remember, we all have different ways we like to consume information and so do our prospects. Repurposed content not only establishes a consistent message for your brand, but it also creates a broader reach for your target audience. So, what are you waiting for?
