What to Post This Summer When You’re Tired, Busy, or Traveling

Summer is here, and with it comes a unique mix of aspiration and exhaustion. For many authors, consultants, and thought leaders, the sunny season brings more than poolside dreams. It means travel for speaking engagements, juggling client demands, family obligations, and a deep need for rest.

But here’s the dilemma: your audience is still online. And if you go completely quiet, you risk losing momentum right when others are slowing down, too.

So how do you stay visible without burning out? How do you juggle the priorities that are pulling you in different directions? How do you stay top of mind at all times?

That’s exactly what we’re diving into in this blog post.

Why Strategic Summer Content Matters

Let’s bust a myth: you don’t need to be “on” 24/7 to grow your brand.

You just need to be consistently present. My goal for all my published author clients and thought leaders is to develop a content plan that is light, repurposed and scheduled well in advance. If you make your cadence and content types too difficult (ie: posting 30 reels in 30 days which gurus are still encouraging people to do… *rolls eyes*) then you wont be consistent and therefore wont be visible or top-of-mind for future clients, speaking gigs, and collaborations.

In short: summer content is about maintenance, not hustle.

When you’re tired, traveling, or simply craving a break, your content should:

  • Reassure your audience that you’re still active
  • Continue demonstrating your expertise
  • Build trust through consistency, not perfection
  • Remind people that your ideas are relevant no matter the season!

10 Low-Lift, High-Impact Content Ideas for Summer

You don’t need to invent anything new. These post ideas help you reuse, reframe, and reconnect without requiring hours at your laptop.

1. “From the Vault” Reshares

Repost content that performed well in the past 6–12 months. Use an intro like:

“Still one of the most common questions I get… here’s my take, in case you missed it.”

Tip: Use insights from your email open rates, LinkedIn analytics, or Instagram saves to pick your most valuable content.

2. Book or Talk Excerpts

Take a short excerpt from your book or keynote and post it with a story, example, or takeaway. Try something like: “In chapter 3 of my book, I shared this—‘Burnout isn’t a badge of honor. It’s a system failure.’ I still come back to this, especially in summer…”

You can also add a reflection: “What’s something you need to hear again right now?”

3. Personal, Light-Touch Reflections

Use what’s happening in your life as a prompt: Rather than tell, show! Show them where you’re vacationing, where you just got inspiration on the family road trip…share stories and your expertise through your lived experiences.

  • What are you learning during this slower season?
  • What’s challenging you?
  • What are you stepping away from or into?

Ex: “I’ve been on the road for weeks. No filters, just real life. Here’s what I’ve learned about showing up online without losing myself…”

4. Behind-the-Scenes Travel Moments

You don’t need a full recap. Just snap a photo of your suitcase, a notebook, the view from your Airbnb, or your carry-on reading list.

Ex: “Traveling this week, but thinking deeply about how we create content that lasts even when we’re offline. A few quick thoughts…”

5. “What I’m Reading / Listening To” Roundups

Experts follow experts. Share what’s inspiring you:

  • A quote from a podcast
  • A takeaway from a book
  • A helpful blog or newsletter

You can ask: “What are you reading that’s stretching you this summer?”

Why I love this one: Is it amplifies your visibility to like-minded audiences of your peers. Be sure to tag the author of the book your sharing.

Another reason I love this one: Is it’s a perfect way to cross promote your books with other authors in your network. You share my books, I share your book! You can learn more about this technique in my chapter Connect to Convert: The Art of Partner-Powered Promotion inside the collaborative book, How to Build Empowered Partners to Skyrocket Your Visibility and Income.

6. Quick-Tip Carousels or Reels

You don’t need a long post, just a simple framework or reminder:

Three ways to _____ this summer.
Ex: “Three ways to reuse your book content this summer”

“One mindset shift that helped me ______ with less _____.”
Ex: “One mindset shift that helped me stay visible with less effort”

“What to ______ so you can actually ______[fill in a desire of your audience.]”
Ex: “What to automate so you can actually relax.”

Keep them short, practical, quick-win oriented, and easy to engage with.

7. Client Wins or Reader Feedback

No need to overdo it. Just highlight a win and what it represents.

“One of my clients _______________ while on vacation._________[statement that validates your clients winning moment.]

Ex: “One of my clients turned a single chapter into four weeks of social content while on vacation. Proof that your book is just the beginning…”

8. Your Summer “Anti-Hustle” Routine

Share your approach to working less—not more.

“I’m not trying to ___________ this month. I’m trying to _______. Here’s how I’m _________ without ________…”

Ex: “I’m not trying to go viral this month. I’m trying to stay sane. Here’s how I’m still showing up online without spiraling into burnout…”

Then walk through your simple system: repurposing, batching, scheduling, or delegating.

9. Answer a FAQ You Always Hear

This is one of the easiest ways to post with authority. Grab a piece of blank paper and braindump the 10 questions you get asked over and over again by clients, prospects and yes, people in your DMs. This is always the best way to start content creation with ease!

“Q: Can I grow my brand if I’m not on social media every day?
A: Absolutely. Here’s how I help authors stay visible without becoming content machines…”

10. Turn Your Notes into Content

If you’ve jotted something in your Notes app or a client session, it probably has value for your audience too. Screenshot the note and share it as the visual with a bit more explanation in the caption.

Wrote this line in a client coaching session last week:
‘________ [what you wrote]’ Sharing it here in case you needed the reminder too.” [then go into more detail about the concept behind that statement.

Ex: “Wrote this line in a client coaching session last week:  ‘Strategy is what protects your energy while keeping you visible.’ Sharing it here in case you needed the reminder too.”
